Hiking in Nepal


Hiking is an outdoor activity which consists of walking in natural environment. People often hike on hiking trails and some adventure lovers also like off-trail hiking. Although hiking is walking, it is not just a walking. Hiking has numerous benefits; it is a super way to lose weight. It also prevents heart disease, decrease cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and reduces stress and depression. Regular hiking helps staying active and stronger longer.  

You will have better air and can explore natural settings that can only be reached on foot, leaving the hectic urban life and pollution behind for a while. Hiking is an aerobic exercise that improves overall physical fitness, using leg muscles, core body muscles, and lungs, and put much less stress on your body than running or doing aerobics. Many hikers also build their self confidence as one hike is completed, he understand that he is capable of even larger feats. By mastering hiking skills, you expand your horizons to mountaineering or other outdoor wilderness activities.

You can hike any time of the year, it is a great activity that can be done in all seasons. Hiking tour can have many different looks depending on season or its nature: 

Day-hiking - can be completed within a single day and does not require camping out overnight. Such hiking is possible nearby areas from your residing city. You can choose day hiking if you are restricted with your busy schedule. You can go hill-side area to any direction from your home for you day hike.

Swim-hiking – is a recreational activity which combines hiking and outdoor swimming. The hiking trail should pass river or lake so that when hiking and you arrive to lake or river you change into swimming costume and put your clothes in a waterproof rucksack and you swim across. On the other side change back into your hiking gear and continue hiking. Such hiking could be a day-hiking or combined with other form of hiking.

Backpacking – is a multiday hiking, also known as trekking, which is arduous hike especially happen in mountainous region. Backpacking combines the activities of hiking and camping for an overnight stay in backcountry wilderness. It is an outdoor activity where participant pack all of their gear into a backpack. In Nepal there are abundant places suitable for backpacking as per hikers’ desire and requirement.

Dog-hiking – is a form of hiking in which hikers can bring their dogs along with them. It is better to make dog-hiking for a single day.

Off-trail-hiking – is a free-hiking emphasizing a hike experience free of constraints, as opposed to seeking a shortcut to specific destination such as scenic viewpoints.  Off-trail hiking may be more tedious, adventurous and a bit risky.

Hill-walking – are commonly used to describe the recreational outdoor activity of walking on hills and mountains which might be referred to as hiking, backpacking or mountaineering, elsewhere, covering terrain, which can include mountains, high moorland, remote passes and coastal passes

Scrambling – is a method of ascending rocky faces and ridges. It is after distinguished from hill-walking by defining a scramble as a route where hands must be used in the ascent to hold body weight, rather than just to balance.

Heli-hiking – is a recreational activity in which a helicopter is used to access remote areas of the back country for hiking that would not normally be accessible.

There are also other forms of hiking defined by many. Nepal is a possible land to develop all these types of professional hiking. Because of the rich in natural diversity, we can give verities of name, specialty and adventures in the different form of hiking. Any corner of the country is possible to develop as a hiking spot, for which all relevant policy makers should think once!
